Human-in-the-Loop AI

Human-in-the-loop AI is a way of designing AI workflows so that a person reviews and approves important actions before they take effect, instead of the AI acting fully on its own.

In a human-in-the-loop design, the AI prepares the work and a person makes the final decision at the steps that matter. For example, the AI might extract order details, draft a customer reply, or prepare a record update, but nothing is sent or committed until a team member approves it.

Anything unclear or unusual is routed to a person as an exception, and every step is logged, so there is a record of what the AI did and what was approved. This makes AI practical for sensitive work like customer messages, pricing-related documents, and order entry.

For smaller businesses, human-in-the-loop design is often the difference between trusting an AI workflow and abandoning it: the team keeps control while the repetitive preparation work is done for them.
