Workflow Agent

A Workflow Agent is an AI-assisted software component that helps complete a defined business process, such as triaging enquiries, drafting follow-ups, updating records, or routing exceptions for human review.

Workflow agents are designed around a specific process, not a vague promise of replacing a job role. They can read approved inputs, apply business rules, draft or update records, and hand off exceptions to the right person. For operations teams, this is useful when repeated work is spread across inboxes, forms, spreadsheets, CRMs, ticketing systems, and messaging tools.

A good workflow agent should include permission boundaries, review points, logging, and fallback paths. The goal is to keep routine work moving while preserving human oversight for sensitive decisions, customer-facing messages, and exceptions.
